Enabling First Person Character Flying Function

First Person Experience

Tinrey Wang

The first person experience takes you to an abandoned resort in a virtual setting. Wang is aiming to navigate the player to wander around, walk up and down the stairs or even jump off the cliff. The interaction between the artificialness and the wild nature evokes a surreal atmosphere that raises the question for the player: where am I? As the player reaches the end of the long platform floating in the air, he/she gains the ability to fly and is able to see the setting from a larger perspective - the abandoned resort is all built on top of a wasted sewing machine standing alone in a massive body of red water. When creating this first person experience, Wang was inspired by his own memory of the times when he worked on his fashion projects. Sometimes the workloads exhausted him and he would take a long nap by his sewing machine. Thus Wang created this piece to express his feeling and visualize the whimsical dreams he had in those long naps.
